Homemade Chili Recipe
Homemade chili recipe may include beans or not, that is just the controversy that will never end when talking about this highly flavorful dish. However, each person will have the opportunity to choose which kind is their favorite. It really doesn't matter much anyway, because either way you are in for the delight of your life when you prepare your homemade chili recipe from scratch.
Chili is frequently called Chili Con Carne, which simply means Chili with Meat, but you rarely hear it called Chili Con Frijoles, which would be the term for Chili with Beans. While you are sure to find all kinds of recipes for chili that include beans, you will find just as many that call for no beans at all, and surprise of all surprises, there are even some that do not include meat. Imagine that. The battle over whether chili should be with or without beans will still rage on even when each person has found their idea of what is the finest chili recipe of all. Regardless of which one you choose, you can surely be glad that there is more than one way to tame the chili beast even when your budget is a little tight.
INGREDIENTS1 lb lean ground beef 1 can (15 1/2 oz) kidney beans (not drained) 1 can (14 1/2 oz) low sodium stewed tomatoes (not drained, cut up) 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce 1 tbsp chili powder 1 1/2 oz onion powder 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
DIRECTIONS 1. Place lean ground beef in a large sauce pan and over medium heat brown beef. Then drain off fat. 2. Return beef to pan and add kidney beans, tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder and onion powder. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 10 minutes stirring occasionally. 3. Ajust seasoning and serve with shredded cheese as a garnish.
